CHEMISTRY AND NANOTECHNOLOGY FOR HEALTHCARE AND ENVIRONMENT

The ChemNanoCARE thematic platform aims at providing multidisciplinary advances in the field of (bio)medicine, healthcare, biomedical engineering and environment through the synergistic integration of consolidated expertise in the field of organic, inorganic and metallorganic chemistry, analytical and physical organic chemistry, biochemistry, nanotechnology and cellular biology.
ChemNanoCARE focuses its research activities on the following topics:
- Synthesis, engineering, production and characterization of (nano)biomaterials and material-based solutions for biomedical and environmental applications;
- Design and synthesis of bioactive molecules (e.g. modified nucleosides, drugs candidates, macrocyclic compounds) and (bio)organic nanoparticles for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes;
- Study of the role of free radicals in biosciences and nanomedicine for omics technologies, biomarkers discovery (DNA, lipids, proteins) and nutra/pharma applications;
- Study of interface between cells and bioactive materials/devices for neuroregenerative medicine.
These activities are fully supported by high-standard characterization facilities and laboratories of chemistry, biology and nanotechnology.
