We design and synthesize biologically active small organic molecules for medical usessuch as cancer treatment.
Some of our molecules can, upon interaction with light, generate useful chemical species and/or radicalic events and can be used as therapeutic agents.
We can also include our molecules in specific micro- or nano-carriers like polymeric particles, micelles or even modified red blood cells (erythrocytes). These compounds are highly versatile, and show a very wide range of potential applications as drug-delivery systems for the selective, early diagnosis and photodynamic therapy of tumours.
